INFO

Situated in the heart of Canberra’s Woden Town Centre, the Callam Offices stand as a significant and often described "beautifully strange" landmark of Australian architecture. A defining example of both Brutalist architecture and Late Twentieth-Century Structuralism, this unique complex was designed by the internationally renowned architect John Andrews.

Now an ACT Heritage-listed site, the building is visually defined by its three interconnected, octagonal "pods" which are dramatically elevated on massive concrete columns. The distinct design was a direct and innovative response to its site, resulting in a floating, geometric silhouette. The structure prominently features a sophisticated suspension system of steel masts and cables supporting the floors, all executed in the raw, off-form concrete that is characteristic of the Brutalist style.
